Each of our rooms features individual reverse cycle air-conditioning with controls located next to the door. To help save energy, the air-conditioning will turn off automatically when you remove your key card from the slot on departure or open the balcony door (if you have one that is)

If you find yourself in one of the rooms with a window in the bathroom, you can operate an electric internal blind for a little more privacy….the controls are just by the light switch in the bathroom.

We think the there’s nothing like exploring a city under pedal power and you may have spotted our fleet of bikes on the way in – they’re there to be borrowed free of charge. We’ve got bike maps and some great spots to cycle in the city that we’d love to share with you.
It’s important to start the day well, a complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in our Mezzanine level Lounge from 6.30am until 10.30am during the week and a little later on the weekends. While our continental breakfast is always included with every stay at Alex, sometimes on you just need a little more to ease into the day… for those times, we’ve got you covered with overnight accommodation; your choice from the Breakfast++ menu and a lazy 1pm checkout. We can arrange for Burswood Car Rentals to have a car delivered to the hotel for you – they’ll even collect it once you’re done. Come and see us at reception and we’ll happily arrange a vehicle for you.

Perth has a number of car services including Uber that can be pre arranged to whisk you around town. If you’re in need of a car and driver we would be more than happy to arrange a safe and secure car service that suits your needs.
We’re a reasonable bunch when it comes to check out time, officially its 12 midday but if you need a bit more time let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
Busy Bee Pharmacy is just across the road on William Street and open 7 days. If its late and you’re in need of a 24 hour pharmacy, Beaufort St 24 Hour Chemist is located about 5 minutes drive away at 647 Beaufort Street, Mt Lawley.

While we don’t have mini bars or kettles in the room, you’ll find complimentary fresh ground filter coffee, a selection of teas and fresh milk in the Mezzanine Lounge Pantry. We take your safety seriously, and hope you do too. See the round sign on the back of door – read that if the alarm goes off. It’ll remind you where the nearest fire escape is and best way out in the event of an emergency. Along the way you’ll find additional signs telling you where our hotel muster point is located. It’s important to listen out for instructions during an alarm and please listen to any direction given by us, remember we’re your friends and want to look out for you!

If you’re in need of a fix, Wembley Golf course is rated as Perth’s best public course. Head to their website for all you need to know.
Sometimes you just want to feel grass between your toes, we get that. The nearest parks are Hyde Park and Russel Square. If you are after a bit of a Barbie, Hyde Park is our closest free BBQ spot and also has swings for the kids (no matter how old they are).
We can also put a little picnic together for you, complete with a picnic rug to spread out on and laze away the afternoon…..we just need a little notice, but if you’re keen let us know!

We’ll service your room daily. If you’d rather we didn’t, simply hang out your door sign with the red side facing the corridor and we’ll leave you alone. If you’re happy to reuse your towels (and help save water) let us know by hanging up your towels – that’s our cue to not replace them.back to top
If the night’s either just getting started or coming to an end and you’re in need of ice, you’ll find ice buckets and ice in the pantry located on the mezzanine…if its running low or a little early in the day for most, let one of us know and we’ll get some for you!
You’ll find a cupboard with irons and ironing boards on every floor, just have a look have down the corridor, opposite the rooms ending in 10. When you’re done, just leave it outside your door.

Our friends at Broadway Dry Cleaners have been in the game for decades and are tried and tested. Available Monday to Friday, simply drop off your laundry in the bag provided, together with your completed laundry docket at reception by 9am for a same day service.
If you are more a do it yourself kind of person, then there is a do it yourself laundrette next to the Globe Backpackers on 561 Wellington Street, near the corner of Queen St about 5 minutes walk away.
The focal point of the hotel stretches across the two levels and should be regarded as your home away from home. Whether it’s a coffee or a glass of wine; to relax or to work, the space is yours to make your own and we’ll always be on hand for a chat or to offer directions to our favourite haunts.

While we don’t have our own parking, if you’ve got a car there are a number of paid parking facilities close by. Click here for details of all the car parks close to the hotel. The most convenient Parking is the State Library car park, off Francis Street just next door. Just remember not all the car parks are open 24 hours, so if you need to get in late or out early please check before parking. If in doubt, let us know and we can point you in the right direction.

Depending if you like soft and fluffy or something a little more firm, on your bed you’ll find two different types of pillows; 2 soft down pillows and 2 hypo-allergenic.

The lovely people at TransPerth operate our public transport, and for those who don’t know, all the buses are FREE (yey!) within the CBD. The CAT buses operate on 4 different routes and are also completely free. We have a variety of maps at reception that list their stops and we can also help you if you have any questions about getting out and about.

We know you’ve been working too hard; you need a nice relaxing massage to treat yourself. There a number of fantastic day spas very close to us at Alex but here are the two that are without doubt our favourites…
The closest big supermarket is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel, click here for directions to Woolworths in Murray St in Perth CBD. Its open 8am – 9pm Monday-Friday, 8am – 5pm Saturday and 11am – 5pm on Sunday.
Otherwise there a couple of convenience stores located on William and James Streets….just ask us a recption and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Love going for a splash? Fresh from hosting the 1962 Perth Commonwealth Games, our friends at Beatty Park have pretty special facilities, with indoor and outdoor lane pools, as well as a leisure pool and water slides for the kids. So grab your bathers and head over to 220 Vincent Street…..ask us for a beach towel if you need one!
While there are plenty of taxis in Perth, hailing one from the street is not always that easy. We recommend pre-ordering one – you are welcome to book one yourself using your phone in your room (with the pre-set button that says ‘taxi’), or alternatively we can book one for you. If you have a lot of luggage or a lot of people, make sure you ask for a maxi taxi.

Bit of a tech-head? Couldn’t care less and just want to watch the news? Our TVs pretty much do it all. You can watch any of the ‘normal’ channels you want, catch a movie from our in-house library or stream direct from your own device. The best part of it is all free!
To connect your phone, tablet or laptop, first download the ‘Samsung Smart View 2.0′ app. Connect your device to your personal TV wifi (which will be your room number). Set your TV to ‘pairing’. Then follow the instructions. Easy.
Fancy hitting a ball around? Tennis Central has 35 courts to choose from, and with grass and synthetic surfaces to choose from and the rates are pretty nice. Left your racket at home? Dog ran off with your last tennis ball? No dramas, you can hire it all there. Oh and it’s only a 1.5km walk away
Nothing beats the magic of theatre. There are amazing performances on in the city every week. We can help you find tickets if you need them. Just come and ask.
