linkWith neighbours like Francoforte and Superstar Waffles, this end of Williams Lane had enough evening cred, but someone needed to step up and cater for the breakfast and in-between crowd – and hello Babooshka. The coffee is great but it’s really the food offering that’ll have you coming back. The Dukkah Eggs and the Tsar’s breakfast are a must, as is the breakfast named after the establishment – the Babooshka. That’s three knockouts and at least three visits…
linkEssentially The Bird is a live music and performance venue but it’s actually much more than that. It’s a great place to go for a drink or two and unwind while some of Perth’s better acts provide nourishment for the soul. Out the back in the courtyard on a warm afternoon or evening is a hard act to follow (pun intended).

Their ever changing menu always includes a selection of their famous hot dogs.
Frisk is gin drinking heaven. There are other places who shall remain nameless that would like to claim the mantle of Perth’s best gin bar but for us you can’t go past this place. It’s simple maths to be honest – there are over 200 gins on the menu and only 4 basic food items. This is a gin bar’s bar. This is Frisk.

Open Wednesday to Sunday from 1pm you can engage with the guys that make the stuff and enjoy their own Gin & Vodka as well as a small range of beers and local wines…..and make sure you introduce yourself to Kylie while you’re there!
linkThe team behind No Mafia serve up another small bar and eatery that trades in good food and drink with a heavy Spanish accent. With 100 seats and alfresco dining, the size of the venue has allowed its owners to create a relaxed, easy atmosphere.
The menu provides options for everything from a few light tapas to a full meal. A partnership with Perth seafood supplier Kailis has led to a number of dishes brimming with fresh local catches prepared with Spanish techniques and flavours. Did you say manchego croquettes and grilled chorizo?!

This is Perth’s rock & roll dive bar. It’s bold, it’s dark and, by God it’s moody, all intermixed into one cool vibe. Be prepared, it’s loud in there and is not recommended for deep and meaningful conversations. The staff are pretty cool human beings and its a great spot to hit up before wandering off to another small bar.
Named after a 1930s gold mine in the Pilbara, this eating house, right in the bustling business centre, is run by some great young hospitality professionals. Their Italian food is pretty amazing and they win us for sourcing local ingredients and supplying lots of locally made drinks.
linkThere is no secret behind the success of this William Street cafe. Instead the formula is quite simple – good coffee, great breakfasts and an eclectic atmosphere. Their ever-changing, house made salad selection makes choosing something to eat at lunch a challenge….
linkWe’re not the only ones in Perth a tad excited about the arrival of David Thompson’s food to Perth…. Since opening, Long Chim has become one the most exciting places to eat in town. Known as the ‘godfather’ of Thai Cuisine, David Thompson’s menu is as good as it gets and the cocktails are equally worth popping in for.
linkMechanics watched us grow – quite literally, watching as Alex gradually rised out of the ground right next to them. While their view may have changed, our back-laneway mates are still an awesome place to get a tipple. Spending an evening on the outdoor, multi-level terrace would have to be one of the better sessions in Perth. Their Bloody Mary with accompanying miniature Flipside burger is the stuff of legend.
linkMr Fox on William is one of the new kids on the street and we’re very pleased to welcome them and their delicious, healthy lunch menu to the neighbourhood. As cosy as the place is, some days you’re just in too much of a hurry and that’s when their tasty takeaway lunch boxes come in handy. These guys also serve great coffee and are guaranteed to take care of your breakfast needs.
linkIf you like you’re meat and a fan of the current craze for all things Southern American, then this joint’s right up your alley. These guys take their meat seriously and slow cook ribs and brisket until its soft, sticky and finger licking good! Just a few minutes walk towards the city near the corner of King St and Wellington St, these guys are open for lunch and dinner – oh and their beer list is pretty good too.
linkIf you’ve got a need for a serious craft beer, look no further. Petition Beer corner in the CBD bosts one the city’s best craft beer lists. We love that you can pick your glass size including a cute little 150ml pour, meaning that you can work your way through the ever changing list while keeping keeping it together….
linkThis is a hole in the wall strategically located opposite Central Tafe that we’d have dismissed as being a bit too “on trend” were it not for THAT coffee…. It’s true that purveyors of coffee that roast their own beans control their own destiny and in the process make the list of our favourite places to grab a cup. The opportunity to see a hand pump espresso machine in action is the final piece of the puzzle.
linkYou’ll need a password (honestly!), someone who knows the location, a mythical liking for rum and a penchant for darkness to enjoy Sneaky Tony’s. Getting there and getting in requires some work but one look at the wall of rum behind the bar and all your hardships will be forgotten. Ask us for the secret tips on how to find it and how to get in….one of the best bars in Australia is waiting.
linkWith a great little moody bar hidden away down the wooden stairs, this little drinking hole goes back to its’ building’s roots, with wooden floorboards and exposed brick walls. Varnish prides itself on its good selections of whiskeys so if that is your poison of choice then this is the place for you.
