About Us
The Alex Hotel is owned by a group of families with a background in brewing, wine making, distilling, coffee roasting, breadmaking, and restaurants. Endeavours include Little Creatures Brewery, Hippocampus Distillery, Stormflower Wines, Bread in Common, Coogee Common, Petition Kitchen, Wildflower, and Good Seeds Coffee. As a team we are passionate and caring about hospitality and the quality of the food and beverage we serve.
Supporting Creative Industries
The Alex has partnerships with neighbouring arts and cultural organisations including the Art Gallery of WA, Boola Bardip WA Museum, Black Swan State Theatre Company, Perth International Arts Festival, Fringeworld, PICA and The Blue Room to name a few.
We can happily advise what is on during your stay and occasionally have in house tickets available to some shows.
Caring for the Environment
A number of sustainability decisions were made in the design and operation of the hotel in an attempt to reduce our environmental impact. Not having fridges in rooms, but easy access to a kitchen and refrigeration in the mezzanine, was a difficult decision but a significant result in emissions reduction, not to mention less noise.
The hotel owners have separately invested time and funds in establishing Line in the Sand, a not-for-profit organisation working with local environmental groups to restore and protect our coastlines from the effects of climate change. They have also established the Wheelhamby Carbon Farming Project, implementing regenerative agricultural practices and planting trees for carbon sequestration.
