The Alex Hotel is independently operated by four local families with a background in brewing, winemaking, distilling, coffee roasting, breadmaking, and restaurants… passions reflected in the food and drink offering of the hotel.
Mezzanine
Guests have exclusive access to our mezzanine floor, where a complimentary continental breakfast awaits each morning. Enjoy house-made gluten free granola, freshly baked bread and pastries from Bread in Common and locally roasted coffee from Good Seeds.
Throughout the day, the mezzanine becomes a cozy spot to catch up with friends, have impromptu meetings, or simply unwind. Complimentary coffee and tea facilities are available in the mezzanine’s kitchenette for guests to use at leisure. Whilst you’re there, admire the everchanging artwork, explore our diverse book collection, or listen to some vinyl on our in-house record player.
Lobby Bar
The Lobby Bar, located on the ground floor, is dedicated to supporting local producers connected with the Alex. Enjoy barista-made, locally roasted Good Seeds coffee or a pot of proper loose leaf tea. Our wine selection includes organic wines from Margaret River’s Stormflower Vineyard, whilst we serve beers from from Freo brewery Little Creatures, as well as Boatrocker and Bristol’s Lost and Ground for something a little different. For those craving a perfect gin and tonic, we proudly serve spirits from Hippocampus, a small distillery founded by the Alex owners. With custom terrazzo bar tops, brass furnishings, and an eclectic decor, our Lobby Bar offers a sanctuary amidst the vibrant atmosphere of Northbridge.
Rooftop
Experience stunning views of Perth CBD from our private rooftop terrace, the perfect spot for an afternoon cuppa or sunset cocktail. Guests are welcome to bring their drinks from the Lobby Bar upstairs or can treat themselves to rooftop “room service” with access to the full menu and extensive wine list from Shadow Wine Bar & Dining Room.
Shadow Wine Bar and Dining Room
Hidden next door on William Street and set behind a classic 1950’s facade, Shadow’s grand vaulted dining room bridges the gap between fondly remembered Italian restaurants and a new wave of creativity.
From an afternoon aperitivo to something a little more serious after dark, Shadow is a haven to escape the bustle of Northbridge and relax into classic Italian fare, cocktails and a carefully curated wine list.
