Alfred's Pizzeria

Alfred's Pizzeria

Maybe not so much of a Pizzeria than a great underground bar doing pizza on the side of great beers, whisky and a whole lot of rock & roll. If you’re heading in to the CBD, make this place a definite stop! Open 7 days 3pm to midnight with Pizza always available! 37 Barrack St Perth

Balthazar

Balthazar

Straight out of New York, this dark, intimate and wonderfully special restaurant is perfect for that special event. The food is brilliant and the wine list would entice a sworn abstainer to have a glass. Delicious.

Creative keg use at The Bird

The Bird

Essentially The Bird is a live music and performance venue but it’s actually much more than that. It’s a great place to go for a drink or two and unwind while some of Perth’s better acts provide nourishment for the soul. Out the back in the courtyard on a warm afternoon or evening is a hard act to follow (pun intended).

Inside at Ezra Pound

Ezra Pound

One of Perth’s first small bars and still one of it’s best. Sit inside or out, they’re serving rad drinks sans attitude and luckily for us they’re just across the road! Enough said.

The Flour Factory

The Flour Factory

100 years ago, the Flour Factory used to produce bags and bags of, you guessed it….flour. Now its a mult level hosptitality fun factory that produces some of the best sweet treats in town, with great coffee to wash it down as well as a bar with Perth’s biggest Gin collection! Their ever changing menu always includes a selection of their famous hot dogs.

Frisk

Frisk

Frisk is gin drinking heaven. There are other places who shall remain nameless that would like to claim the mantle of Perth’s best gin bar but for us you can’t go past this place. It’s simple maths to be honest – there are over 200 gins on the menu and only 4 basic food items. This is a gin bar’s bar. This is Frisk.

Garum Restaurant

Garum, Roman fish sauce made by salting and fermenting fish in small clay jugs or vessels, was used commonly throughout ancient Roman cooking.

This osteria’s Menu, created by chef Mario Di Natale, focuses on the ideals of Roman cooking, its techniques and history while highlighting the richness of Western Australian produce.

Halford

Halford Bar

Adding a little late night 80’s inspired sass to Perth’s bar scene, The Halford is a welcomed new addition to town. Underground, dark and moody this cocktail bar with a great list of quality drinks is perfect for something a little special late into the night….

helvetica

Helvetica

They do serve food here but you don’t go the Helvetica for the food. You go for their scotch, and they’ve got a lot of it. So sit back, relax and enjoy. One of our favourites in the City!

Distillery-28

Hippocampus Metropolitan Distillery

Hidden away in the back of an old building in West Perth, is the home of a new craft distillery that opens its doors to visitors to taste, drink and share in their passion for craft spirits. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 1pm you can engage with the guys that make the stuff and enjoy their own Gin & Vodka as well as a small range of beers and local wines…..and make sure you introduce yourself to Kylie while you’re there!

Los Bravos

The team behind No Mafia serve up another small bar and eatery that trades in good food and drink with a heavy Spanish accent. With 100 seats and alfresco dining, the size of the venue has allowed its owners to create a relaxed, easy atmosphere.

The menu provides options for everything from a few light tapas to a full meal. A partnership with Perth seafood supplier Kailis has led to a number of dishes brimming with fresh local catches prepared with Spanish techniques and flavours. Did you say manchego croquettes and grilled chorizo?!

Jimmys

Jimmy's Den

This old gambling den from the 1970s was lovingly restored recently. It still holds onto its roots but the green felt tables have been replaced by a stage and a killer sound system, making Jimmy’s Den a great little live venue.

Joe's Juice Joint

Joe's Juice Joint

This is Perth’s rock & roll dive bar. It’s bold, it’s dark and, by God it’s moody, all intermixed into one cool vibe. Be prepared, it’s loud in there and is not recommended for deep and meaningful conversations. The staff are pretty cool human beings and its a great spot to hit up before wandering off to another small bar.

Wall of Tequila at La Cholita

La Cholita

La Cholita remains a great place to pick over plates of modern mexican fare and let your eyes and taste buds browse the 100 or so tequilas slouched on shelves behind the bar. “Si, but is it auténtico?” you ask. We say tequila…

Lalla Rokha

Lalla Rookh

Named after a 1930s gold mine in the Pilbara, this eating house, right in the bustling business centre, is run by some great young hospitality professionals. Their Italian food is pretty amazing and they win us for sourcing local ingredients and supplying lots of locally made drinks.

Long Chim

We’re not the only ones in Perth a tad excited about the arrival of David Thompson’s food to Perth…. Since opening, Long Chim has become one the most exciting places to eat in town. Known as the ‘godfather’ of Thai Cuisine, David Thompson’s menu is as good as it gets and the cocktails are equally worth popping in for.

We can never choose at Mechanics Institute.

Mechanics Institute

Mechanics watched us grow – quite literally, watching as Alex gradually rised out of the ground right next to them. While their view may have changed, our back-laneway mates are still an awesome place to get a tipple. Spending an evening on the outdoor, multi-level terrace would have to be one of the better sessions in Perth. Their Bloody Mary with accompanying miniature Flipside burger is the stuff of legend.

old-faithful

Old Faithful Bar & BBQ

If you like you’re meat and a fan of the current craze for all things Southern American, then this joint’s right up your alley. These guys take their meat seriously and slow cook ribs and brisket until its soft, sticky and finger licking good! Just a few minutes walk towards the city near the corner of King St and Wellington St, these guys are open for lunch and dinner – oh and their beer list is pretty good too.

Petition Beer Corner

We love that you can pick your glass size including a cute little 150ml pour, meaning that you can work your way through the ever changing list while keeping keeping it together….

Wall of rum - Sneaky Tony's

Sneaky Tony's

You’ll need a password (honestly!), someone who knows the location, a mythical liking for rum and a penchant for darkness to enjoy Sneaky Tony’s. Getting there and getting in requires some work but one look at the wall of rum behind the bar and all your hardships will be forgotten. Ask us for the secret tips on how to find it and how to get in….one of the best bars in Australia is waiting.

Varnish On King

With a great little moody bar hidden away down the wooden stairs, this little drinking hole goes back to its’ building’s roots, with wooden floorboards and exposed brick walls. Varnish prides itself on its good selections of whiskeys so if that is your poison of choice then this is the place for you.
